El Paso equipment appraisal is a certified statement of what heavy equipment in El Paso and Hudspeth counties is worth: semi trucks, trailers and forklifts from the freight business at the border crossings, earthmoving machines from road and site work, and farm machinery from the pecan, cotton and hay farms of both counties. The signature on it belongs to a CMEA, meaning a Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser, and the work follows the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

  • Equipment in El Paso, Socorro, Fabens and Hudspeth County can share one report.
  • A desktop appraisal uses the photos and records you send, with no visit to the yard.
  • When a lender or a court needs the equipment seen, an on-site inspection is scheduled.
  • The report states which kind of value it gives and what it is to be used for.
  • The fee and the delivery date are put in writing before you commit.
  • USPAP-compliant
  • Signed by a CMEA
  • Rated 5.0 on Google

What should an El Paso equipment owner know first?

El Paso runs on Mountain Time
The federal courts in El Paso print their office hours in Mountain Time. Most of Texas is an hour ahead, so when a time of day is given, check which clock it is on.
Which appraisal district covers El Paso
Business equipment in El Paso County is listed with the El Paso Central Appraisal District on Trowbridge Drive. The yearly list is called a rendition. Texas sets April 15 as its due date, and a written request made by April 15 moves it to May 15. The district’s online filing page says the same. Hudspeth County has its own district in Sierra Blanca. El Paso Central Appraisal District
Part of the area is in New Mexico
The Santa Teresa border crossing, just over the state line from El Paso, is in New Mexico. Equipment kept on that side is not in Texas, so note the state for each piece on your list.
Which federal court covers El Paso
El Paso County alone makes up the El Paso Division of the Western District of Texas. Hudspeth County is placed by law in the Pecos Division, whose court sits at Pecos and Alpine.
How long a report takes
Most desktop reports are done 7 to 10 business days after the records arrive. For one or two pieces, a 24 to 48 hour rush is offered. An inspection on site takes more time.
Fee
Starting at $295. A larger list, an on-site inspection or a rush adds to the fee.

What should an El Paso equipment appraiser be asked before you hire one?

Do they ask which state each piece is in?

An El Paso fleet can have units parked in Texas and in New Mexico. Ask whether the appraiser will record where each one is kept.

Will the report name who it is for?

A file here may go to the El Paso Central Appraisal District, the federal court in El Paso or a lender anywhere. Ask that the report name its reader, its purpose and the kind of value it gives.

Will the delivery date be in writing?

A report may be due before April 15, the rendition deadline, or before a court date or a loan closing. A lender or court elsewhere in Texas works an hour ahead of El Paso, so ask for the delivery date in writing, and for the clock any time of day is on.

What should I send for an El Paso appraisal?

  • Your equipment list: year, make and model for each piece.
  • The VIN or serial number of each piece.
  • Odometer miles and engine hours on trucks. Meter hours on machines and forklifts.
  • Photos of every side of each piece, with its plate and its meter.
  • The city and the state where each piece is kept.
