Longview equipment appraisal gives an owner, a lender or a court a certified figure for what heavy equipment in Gregg, Harrison, Rusk or Upshur County would sell for. That covers the well service rigs, winch trucks and vacuum trucks of the East Texas oil field, the machines and trucks of a logging crew, a contractor’s dozers and excavators, and the tractors and hay equipment on a farm. The signer is a Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser (CMEA), and the work follows the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

  • Rigs near Kilgore, trucks in Longview and tractors outside Gilmer fit on a single report.
  • A desktop appraisal needs only your photos and records, which leaves the equipment on the lease or the job.
  • An inspection on site is arranged whenever the lender or the court requires one.
  • The report names the kind of value, such as fair market value, and the date it applies to.
  • You get the fee and a delivery date in writing first.
  • USPAP-compliant
  • Signed by a CMEA
  • Rated 5.0 on Google

What should an East Texas equipment owner know first?

Four counties, four appraisal districts
Each county has its own appraisal district, the office that puts a taxable value on property there. Gregg County has the Gregg Appraisal District on West Loop 281 in Longview. Harrison County has the Harrison Central Appraisal District in Marshall, Rusk County has the Rusk County Appraisal District in Henderson, and Upshur County has the Upshur County Appraisal District in Gilmer. Longview lies in Gregg and Harrison counties, and Kilgore in Gregg and Rusk. Gregg Appraisal District
The rendition and the extension
A rendition is the list of business equipment an owner files with the district each year. Texas makes it due April 15. The Gregg district’s page says a written request sent before that date extends the filing to May 15.
When you give a market value
The Gregg district says that if an owner gives a good faith estimate of market value in place of the original cost and the date acquired, the chief appraiser, who heads the district, may ask for a statement explaining it. A report that states a value for each machine and the basis for it can support that statement.
Two federal court divisions
Gregg and Rusk counties are in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas. Harrison and Upshur counties are in the Marshall Division. The bankruptcy court’s own page says court for cases filed in Marshall and Tyler is usually held in Tyler, where its clerk’s office is.
How soon
A desktop report takes 7 to 10 business days after the last photo and record comes in. When only one or two machines are involved, 24 to 48 hours can be arranged as a rush. On-site work depends on travel.
Fee
Starting at $295. More machines, a site visit or a rush date each add to that.

How do I choose an appraiser for East Texas equipment?

Does the report show which county each machine is in?

Four counties mean four appraisal districts, and the cities of Longview and Kilgore each lie in two counties. Send the county with every machine and ask that the report carry it, so no district is handed another county’s equipment.

Can the report support your answer to the district?

The Gregg district may ask in writing how you arrived at a market value. Ask for a report that states a value for each machine and the basis for it, so you have what the answer needs.

Does the appraiser know which court the report is for?

Gregg County is in the Tyler Division and Harrison County is in the Marshall Division, and the city of Longview lies in both counties. Write the court and its date into the deadline box on the quote form. The quote should state the delivery date.

What do I send for a Longview appraisal?

  • The list of equipment: year, make and model for every piece.
  • Serial numbers for machines and VINs, vehicle identification numbers, for trucks and trailers.
  • Hours, miles, and the date of the last mast inspection on a rig, if there was one.
  • Photos of each piece, its plate and its meter.
  • Rebuild and repair records, if you kept them.
  • The county each piece is kept in.
